A proper Greek salad has no lettuce in it, and the feta goes on top in one piece. Warm pita turns it from a side dish into lunch.
Ingredients
Salad
- 4ripe tomatoes, cut into wedges
- 1cucumber, thickly sliced
- 1red onion, thinly sliced
- 1green pepper, sliced(optional)
- 100gblack olives
- 200gfeta, in one slab or crumbled
Dressing
- 4 tbspolive oil
- 1 tbspred wine or white vinegar
- 1 tspdried oregano
- ½ tspsalt
- black pepper
To serve
- 4pita breads
Method
Cook it step by stepStep 1: Salt the tomatoes
Put the tomato wedges in the serving bowl, sprinkle with the salt and leave them for 5 minutes.
